Swokowski wins SGA presidential election

Rachael Swokowski is the University of Montevallo’s new SGA president. Swokowski ran against Eddie Davis in a run-off after the two tied in last week’s election.

During a debate held Aug. 27, Swokowski stated that focusing on student needs was her top priority. She argued that great time management skills and her previous experience in the SGA was proof of her leadership ability.

After Julia Erwin, senior class president, announced the results of the election on the Farmer Hall stage, a friend hugged Swokowski. Davis gave her a congratulatory hug as well.

“I’m feeling great!” the new SGA executive told the Alabamian. “I can’t wait to get started, and I think it will be a great year.”

“It was a good race,” said Davis. “Best of luck Rachel. I look forward to working with you.”
