By: Kylie Jordan

The University of Montevallo’s Student Government Association held its weekly meeting to discuss upcoming campus events, SGA position applications and Mr. and Mrs. Montevallo applications.

The meeting started at 4:30 with Executive Cabinets giving officer reports.

During officer reports, UPC Coordinator Ivey Siegel announced an upcoming UPC event with a hypnotist. This event took place Sept. 7 at the Center for the Arts.

Siegel also announced Vallo Family Feud, a “Family Feud” style game where students will compete in. Students can also answer survey questions which the answers will be pulled from. Vallo Family Feud is set for Sept. 21, but Siegel encouraged the senate to answer the survey beforehand. The survey can be found through the QR code on the UPC Instagram page.

SGA elections will be held in two weeks. Students will be able to vote for Freshman Forum, Transfer Senator, Freshman Senator, or General Assembly positions during these elections.

The senate discussed Mr. and Ms. Montevallo applications that were due September 8. Students must have had 90 credit hours to apply.

The next officer report was from the WOW Weekend committee. SGA will be hosting their monthly WOW Weekend event on Sept. 22 and 23. The WOW Weekend event on Sept 22 will include karaoke. On Sept. 23, SGA will be hosting yard games at Farmer Hall with a DJ and a photobooth.

The meeting ended with announcements that consisted of the previously listed events. The meeting was formally closed at 4:39 p.m.
