College Night Committee debating newest CN sport

By Kendall Ledlow, News editor

Due to e-sports quickly becoming a College Night classic, the College Night Committee are looking to add another competition into the mix to keep athletics on both sides extra exciting. An anonymous insider has given the Alabamian an exclusive overview of the propositions up for consideration.

Beyblade

Originally suggested as a joke, the cheap price tag attached to hosting beyblade events was very appealing to the administration who now wishes to seriously pursue it. The sport would be BYOB (Bring your own Beyblade.)

Fishing

Fishing is a highly profitable sports team at the University of Montevallo, so the committee thought, “why not bring it to College Night?” When asked for his thoughts on the matter, a member of the fishing team replied, “What’s College Night?”

Hockey

Extensive market research performed by the foundation determined that hockey is very popular among college students right now. “This will be a great way to bridge the gap between student athletes and the general student population,” said a researcher, who has never watched “Heated Rivalry.” The campus pool will be turned into a hockey rink since staff always kept the water too cold anyway.

The Parachute Game

A beloved favorite from your elementary school P.E. class, the parachute game was a natural choice for college night. Unfamiliar with the rules, I asked our insider what this game would entail. Our source said, “I’m not quite sure how you win this game, but that doesn’t really matter because it’s really, really fun.”

Show Choir

Glee, or show choir, is an addition that will make the most insufferable people you know very, very happy.

Football

No more is Montevallo without a football team— now, it has two! This option was pitched as a desperate attempt for the next governor of Alabama to keep giving the university money. Now, everyone who lives up the hill must learn how football works.

Out of all these outstanding options, don’t get dejected if a competition, you’re passionate about doesn’t become reality.  All the rejected sports will return in the brand-new College Night 2: 2 College 2 Night, featuring the debut performance of playwright Andrew Wilson’s “Jalapeno Ranch Deluxe.”
