2025 Art Stalk is Bigger than Ever

On Oct. 25, Main Street roared with color and life as artists and shoppers flooded the sidewalks for the Montevallo Art Walk: Art Stalk.

The annual celebration advertised fun and art for all ages, and it certainly delivered.

The Halloween spirit loomed over the event, with a handful of vendors handing out candy and many shoppers donning their costumes in hopes of winning the event’s costume contest. Vendors sold anything from crocheted critters to ornate glasswork to quirky jewelry, and that’s not even scratching the surface. Live music soundtracked the festivities as the community came together to uplift one another and shout their support for the arts.

According to many passersby, this is the largest the event has been in recent memory, with the market jutting off Main Street and stretching down North Boundary Street. On Main Street itself, booths ran from Provenance Church all the way to Blue Phrog Gallery.

A handful of students at the University of Montevallo manned their own booths with custom wares to sell.

First, the Montevallo Student Art Association deserves a spotlight. SAA is a university organization for any student interested in art, not just majors. Under their tent, they sold buttons and screen-printed T-shirts that were designed and manufactured by themselves. According to the organization’s Instagram, profits will go towards funding opportunities for its members. For those interested, the SAA meets weekly on Wednesdays at 5pm in Bloch Hall, and you can follow them on Instagram @montevallosaa.

Student Macie Mathers was selling cute, crocheted crafts at her booth, called HandMaeMaed. “I like doing these [events,] especially the ones on campus, because I feel like it really gives me a chance to share my art and be creative, and things like that,” Mathers had to say about why she participated in Art Stalk. “I’m not just doing art for myself. I like to share it, and I like to show my friends.”
